Tricks of the Trade ::..
If you haven't completely finished your online store yet, take a look at the following tips we have to offer.
Frames Are Bad
In general, frames are a bad thing to integrate into your online store. With MODsearch, your parts are listed in our database with a corresponding URL. With frames it is very hard to retrieve your entire site as well as view the full product information.
Create A Database
Organization of your online store is very important. You should know exactly what parts you carry, what is in stock, and how much items cost. For MODsearch it is ideal that you have a database of your parts because you can upload this file and your parts will be entered automatically. We have created a simple MODsearch database that will work with our uploading system and can be viewed in Excel.
Product Links
Make sure that each and every product in your store can be accessed via a product URL. What does this mean? Say you wanted to show a friend and AEM intake for an 2000 Acura Integra that your store sells. Would you send him the url to you store and tell him to browse through the menus until he finds it? We would hope not. Design your website so that you can send your friend a direct link to the exact page with details about the AEM intake.
Correct Prices
Make sure you have prices for all of your products. If you do not fill in a price for your parts listed on MODsearch, they will be on the very last page when they are searched for. Keep these prices up to date with what is listed on your website.
If you follow the above guidelines for you website, there should be absolutely no reason why your site wouldn't be successful on MODsearch. If you have any coding or database questions, feel free to e-mail us at help@modsearch.com and we'll be glad to help you in any way that we can. We are very familiar with PHP, MySQL, Microsoft Excel, and we can attempt to learn anything you can throw at us.
