Product Reviews > Electronics > Fuel & Boost Controllers > A'PEXi V-AFC
| Name: Qiao Zhou | | Date Reviewed: 3/11/03 - 9:12PM | | Bought From: Gruppe-S Engineering LLC | | Price Paid: $300.00 SHIPPED | | Application: 1999 Honda Prelude | Likes: Great mod when you have significantly altered the air flow to the engine through intake, header, high flow cat, and exhaust.
Gains from 10-13whp all across the board when dyno tuned. It also fixes the strange power dip right before you hit VTEC.
Lowers VTEC engagment point (4.5-4.8 rpm = optimal) so it is easier to stay in VTEC especially for the Sportshift 1-2nd gear shift.
Make sure you save up a little more to dyno tune; everybody's car is different and you don't want to mess with the settings blindly or use someone else's settings...it could lead to bent valves or even power loss.
The rpm reading of the VAFC is much more accurate than the rpm reading on the gauge especially at high rpms. | | Dislikes: Spend time dyno tune at a place w/ O2 sensor | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
Name: Que_Lude (8) | | Location: SJ | | Date Reviewed: 2/9/03 - 9:22PM | | Bought From: Titanmotorsports | | Price Paid: $310 | | Application: 94 Lude Vtec | | MODs: All bolt-ons & Vafc | Likes: Cool looking display, controls a/f at different points on the rpm band (Need dyno tune for this), controls Vtec crossover.
Displays intake pressure, rpms, throttle position, correction ratio. Different views available. | | Dislikes: To be picky, the display could have been darker blue. It would be cool if the display could change colors. Could have ability to hold different fuel maps. Could provide a better bracket (thicker) | Other Comments: You need to hack into your ecu to connect this device. If you do not connect it correctly, your car may be a little "sick."
If you have a Vtec engine, it is a must if you don't want to go to a stand alone system like Hondata. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
Name: jtown (16) | | | Location: San Jose, CA | | Date Reviewed: 2/6/03 - 4:50AM | | Price Paid: $300 | | Application: 1998 Honda Prelude | | MODs: Basic bolt ons. | | Likes: Cool little gadget. This was the last mod for my car and hopefully it did it's job. It's cool to look at after it's been installed. | | Dislikes: Nothing much. | | Other Comments: Get this as your last mod for your car so you can tune it correctly at a dyno. Go some place where they know what they're doing. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
